Prime Grill Restaurant

Right before the high holidays I painted Prime Grill Restaurant and gave it a whole new contemporary look. This premier NY kosher restaurant has a new home in the Sony building, 550 Madison Avenue, New York.

The main room and bar walls I did in an ombre technique; the niche / accent wall was executed in a more vivid-colored ombre, creating an interesting contrast.
The separate  dining rooms are done in silver, gold & copper shades and glazes.

The venue was renovated by Michael Hershkowitz of the NY Interior Renovation Group, Inc.

UWS Living Room

Yvonne_Verwer_BL_LR3jpgOn the Upper West Side I recently did a large living room.

All the woodwork was originally painted dark green and was in bad shape.

I spent days repairing and prepping the large crown molding, baseboards and doors before painting them all white.

The Venetian Plaster, which was Yvonne_Verwer_BL-LR4jpgdone in a previous year, got spruced up and now shimmers like new.

The color change on all the woodwork updated the room to give it a more contemporary feel.

Aberlour

Aberlour entrance gate
Aberlour entrance gate

Steeped in centuries of legend and surrounded by dramatic Scottish Highland scenery, the village of Aberlour lies where the Lour burn joins the River Spey. The exceptionally pure, soft spring water used for making Aberlour whisky is drawn from nearby natural springs.

For their October event in Manhattan I was asked to paint two structures to resemble old stone reminiscent of Aberlour’s ancient architecture.

The old distillery gate is shown above. The keystone was left blank so that an ancient celtic image could be projected. The nature imagery is wallpaper.

Lobby transformation

This residential lobby, steps away from the Plaza Hotel, was redecorated by CPS Design.

I repainted four 10′ high mirror frames in silver and mercury hues. These iridescent finishes subtly echoed the pale silver tones in the window treatments.

Victoria’s Secret Lounge Floor Painting

Set designer / decorator Lynn Nigro asked me to do a scenic paint job for her client Victoria’s Secret.

2,000 Square feet of plain pine planks had to be transformed into a warm brown floor that looked aged. At Lynn’s studio I custom mixed a stain color and painted the planks individually, one at a time, assisted by several other painters.

Transported to Gary’s Loft in midtown Manhattan, 500 individual planks were laid down to form a floor.

Gilding at the G.E. Building

At Manhattan’s exquisite Art Deco (former) General Electric building I finished gilding the new offices of financial firm Crown Sterling.

Commissioned by interior designer Alexis Manfer, I gilded 500 feet of crown molding and 5 sets of elevator doors.
