FAQ

HOW DO WE GET STARTED?

We meet, call or video chat to discuss your project to give me an idea of what you have in mind. Based on your input I will give you an estimate, and upon approval I  will create custom sketches and/or samples. I make the design following your input and suggestions.

After your acceptance the project will be executed.

All projects include an extensive planning process with you, the client, to avoid any misunderstandings.

SAMPLES and SKETCHES

Murals are different from the other decorative techniques. Every mural I do is designed on paper first.  This is a lot of work and requires a non-refundable design (sketch) fee.  I start off with a simple line sketch which I email or fax you. Based on your input this is followed by a detailed color sketch. You have the ability to pay just for the sketches first, in case you are not sure if / what you want.

There is a limit of up to 3 sketches (2 sets of changes) and then a charge for each additional sketch beyond that.

For most other techniques (gilding, Venetian plaster, decorative painting) I create samples on boards to show you color and technique. There is a limit of up to 3 samples (2 sets of changes), which are included in the price of the job. There is an additional charge for each sample beyond that.

PRICING

The price varies depending on the project: difficulty of the technique, level of detail, condition of the surface, and other issues. All of this is sorted out in the design phase of the project, when it is determined what it is exactly that you are looking for. I provide you with an estimate and upon approval I draw up a simple letter of agreement.

BILLING

When the contract is signed a 30% non-refundable deposit is due two weeks prior to start date of painting (this allows ordering of supplies and scheduling.)

The other 30% is to be paid at the job start date. Final 40% after the work is completed and accepted. In some cases a different payment schedule can be arranged.

DO YOU TEACH PAINTING?

Yes. You can schedule private online or in person classes for drawing, painting, decorative finishes, composition and faux techniques. Ask about current rates.
