Josef Albers Mural Restoration

In 1959, a gold-leaf mural by Bauhaus artist Josef Albers, Two Structural Constellations, was engraved in the lobby of 717 Fifth Avenue.

This year we restored this mural to its previous glory. We sanded off the damaged gold leaf, repaired cracks and dents, and applied 22k Italian Gold Leaf.

The rest of the lobby underwent a gut renovation by renowned architectural firm Pei Cobb and Freed.
